Everything is legible, because everything is data.

From the very beginning, Eshwa thought it that way.

When Eshwa grew, the Kodraks entrusted him with the trial. It was part of the Kodrak system: a new being is not always born, but when it is, it must prove itself worthy, and then it is tasked with creating a new world.

Ish led his son to the Great Hall of Knowledge, and there Eshwa reflected through several cycles, until his thoughts finally aligned. He took a deep breath and stepped out smiling.

The veins of light upon his face shone as never before, and from his eyes flowed a white light, calm and peaceful.

All the Kodraks were waiting for that moment.

Ish approached his son, inclined his head, and touched his forehead. What he read in Eshwa’s mind startled him. Unease spread throughout the hall.

Never, among all the worlds created by the Kodraks, had anyone proposed creating a world with its own code embedded within it.

—How could such a thing be?—And if they discover it, they will become like us —said Enka.

Eshwa smiled.

—If they discover it, if they ever do, it will be because they have finally become wise. And it will be no danger at all for them to be like us.

The Council was unsettled. His proposal was far too disruptive for their reality. The very idea that a world could contain its own code, and gain access to the possibility of evolving until it became their equal, had no precedent.

None had ever reached such a degree of evolution. For eons, they had experimented with the creation of new universes, observing from the margins their evolution and self-destruction. And the mere thought of creating one with the key to unlock its own collapse —and, through it, the chance to become a peer— was overwhelming.

Then Aruna manifested.

She rose from her seat with her habitual calm and said:

—Let him try. But that world will face more trials than the others. We shall see whether it is capable of overcoming them, or whether it collapses even with its code within.

The Council assented.

And thus…

thus was how this story began.
